What help is available to help me pay for childcare?
There are a few different schemes run by the Government to help you pay for childcare for your little ones!

What benefits do I qualify for after having children?
You can find out what benefits your eligible for by using the online Benefits Calculator. If you need to speak to someone about applying for benefits or discuss the benefits you are currently receiving, you can contact the Benefits team on 01495 311556. Additionally, you can also speak to the Citizens Advice Benefits Helpline on 0800 702 2020
How do I find out if I am in a Flying Start area?
You will need to email FIS@blaenau-gwent.gov.uk. Please let us know your full name; full address; your little one’s name; and their date of birth. Alternatively, you can call us on 0800 032 3339.
When do I need to apply for a nursery or reception place?
Your little one can start Nursery after the term they turn three. Check out the Family Information Service Facebook Page for more information on dates. If you have any further queries regarding school admissions, you can email schooladmissions@blaenau-gwent.gov.uk or call 01495 355493.

I have concerns about a child?
If you have safeguarding concerns about a child, you can report them here or call our Information and Advice team on 01495 315700 and choose option 2 for children’s social services.
How can I speak to someone in Families First?
To speak to families first, you can call 01495 355584 and ask to speak to families first. You will then be transferred to their team.
How do I find childcare in my area and what are the options?

How do I apply for Foundation Phase Nursery in Blaenau Gwent?
Contact the Education Department on (01495) 355493 or email them at education.department@blaenau-gwent.gov.uk!

When you contact FIS you will receive a friendly and professional service and your enquiry will be treated in confidence. We will do our best to answer all your questions and provide you with any useful publications and information. We will also signpost you to other services that may be able to support you if you need further help.
